ProWave Treatment
ProWave 770™ Hair Removal with Infrared Programmable Wavelengths
Cutera’s goal is to give customers treatment choices. This is why we developed the first infrared programmable wavelength device for hair removal.
About the ProWave
The ProWave contains two groundbreaking innovations. First due to the custom design, the ProWave emits mostly infrared light above 770 nm, wavelengths recognized as the most versatile for hair removal. The second innovation is the output spectrum that can be shifted to optimize treatment for each patient. Three distinct programs tailor the wavelength and pulse width to optimize performance and efficacy for each patient.
Program A: Shortest wavelengths & pulse widths
Program B: Mid-range wavelength & pulse widths
Program C: Longest wavelength & pulse widths
Advantages of ProWave Technology
- Infrared wavelengths: recognized as the most versatile wavelengths for hair removal.
- Wavelength flexibility: by controlling the current density, both the wavelength and pulse width are tailored to optimize hair removal efficacy for skin types I-V using a single handpiece.
- Economically friendly: cost efficient addition to your range of services.
Fast treatment speed: an average back can be treated in 20 minutes and both legs in 15 minutes. - No numbing cream or gel required: Increasing patient comfort and decreasing set-up and clean-up time.

An additional patient benefit is the ability of the handpiece to treat large areas such as women’s legs and men’s backs – quickly and safely.
What do ProWave treatments feel like?
When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required; however, some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.
What are the possible side effects?
Although patients experience few side effects, those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less. In rare instances, blistering may occur. Consult with your medical professional for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.
How does ProWave compare with other hair removal methods?
Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated on a frequent basis. ProWave offers permanent hair reduction for lasting results.
How does ProWave compare with electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive, and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. By delivering light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at a time, ProWave effectively treats an area in just seconds that would take over an hour with electrolysis.
